Church Unique: How Missional Leaders Cast Vision, Capture Culture, and Create Movement (Jossey-Bass, 2008)

I have been reading this book recently (will finish in the next few days).  I have been introduced to Auxano and Will Mancini’s Church Unique process through some previous training events.  This book asks unpacks some powerful concepts and questions that can help a church discover their unique vision path.

48 Days to the Work You Love (Revised Edition) (Nashville: B&H Books, 2010)

I recently spent several days listening to the unabridged audio book during my drive time.  I have been listening to Dan Miller’s podcast for several months and wanted to see if I could use this book as a resource to help people who are stuck in unemployment or unfulfilling employment. I found it to be practical, inspiring, and helpful to give people a nudge in the right direction.  Even though I am in many ways already doing the work I love, I got some good inspiration as well.

A Shepherd Looks at Psalm 23 (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Zondervan, 1970)

I’m actually a little embarrassed that it took me this long to get around to reading this classic reflection on the beloved Psalm 23 through the eyes of a shepherd.  I had the book for years and just never got around to reading it.

When my step-mother passed away a few months ago, I found a copy in some of her books and brought it home to read.  I’m so glad I did. You will be, too.

Platform: Get Noticed in a Noisy World (Nashville: Thomas Nelson, 2012)

A year ago, I had never heard the name Michael Hyatt. He is now one of my major influencers.  I just finished this book a week or so ago, and it covers more aspects of sharing one’s message than I ever thought possible. At times during the reading I felt overwhelmed with information, but I never felt that Michael, the expert, was “talking down” to me, the novice. I am excited about using this information to share my message.

If you have a message to share, this is full of ideas and resources.

Modern Essentials *5th Edition* A Contemporary Guide to the Therapeutic Use of Essential Oils (The NEW 5th Edition) (Orem, UT: Aroma Tools, 2014)

Modern Essentials

At the beginning of 2014, essential oils were virtually unknown to our family.  It seemed like something that some weird hippies or flower children or New Agers might use.

In just a few months, I can safely say that essential oils (we use doTERRA) have been life changing for us.  We have taken more control of our health and wellness with these natural oils and supplements. We are even teaching classes on the use of essential oils (I guess we are in touch with our hippie side).

This book is our go-to guide for all things related to essential oils.  Can’t recommend it highly enough.

Why pray? 40 days – from words to relationship (Grand Rapids, Michigan: Mission India, 2005)

why pray

I usually don’t add books to the list before I complete them, but I am currently reading this book and can’t wait to recommend it.  As of this writing, I am 11 days into the 40 and have been challenged by this simple call to prayer.  I can see it being a great tool for a prayer/discipleship group or even a 40 day church-wide focus.
