“God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.” (1 Peter 4:10-11, New Living Translation)

After a few days off from writing, I feel like I’ve lost my rhythm a little bit. However, I do need to prove that I can write a post without mentioning my new granddaughter … oops … guess I will have to prove that tomorrow. 🙂

As I was reading this morning, I was struck by this great truth of the variety of giftedness there is within the Body of Christ. Sometimes we magnify the public gifts like speaking, but don’t think so much about the more behind the scenes gifts like helping others. There is no hierarchy of gifts, none more or less valuable than any others. The point is that we use our gifts to allow God to work through us for the benefit of others through service and for the purpose of bringing glory to God in all we do, all we say, every attitude, every thought.

Question: What keeps Christ-followers from making the most of their giftedness?
