100 downloads today(1)
Available for 99 cents on Amazon FOR TWO MORE DAYS (JUNE 30-JULY1)

I set a really high goal of 100 99-cent downloads on June 29.  It didn’t happen.

What did happen was that there were 36, which was still the highest number of paid downloads the book has had since it released on June 17.  So, I’m not crying today.  In fact, I’m celebrating.

I’ve also set a new goal of getting that 100 99-cent downloads before the 99-cent price expires at midnight on July 1.

If you don’t have it yet, I’d love for you to have it while it is still on sale.

MJ Chivers (Five Stars) – I’m not a theologian or even a bible study teacher. But I have attended many and dropped out of many. As a lay person, I can attest that Dr. Lewis hits the nail on the head with this one. If you want a community of devoted followers of Christ, they need to be engaged. Bible study shouldn’t be another place for the leader to preach a sermon. I want to interact. I want to ask questions. I want answers to some of my difficult questions. If I can’t get my questions answered, I want some referral info where I can go. If you, as a bible study leader want people to stay involved, you need to be vulnerable and involve yourself as well. We are a community of believers, we need to be there for each other and help each other learn and grow. More importantly, we need to show Jesus to the world and be engaged in the world, not physically separated. Our faith is about making disciples and helping them to grow. I highly recommend this to all theologians out there.

Troy Strickland (Five Stars) – I have a confession to make. I often feel like a bad pastor compared to many of my friends because I have a hard time reading books written about issues in church life. I’m a nuts and bolts guy, and most books written on church life take so much time simply getting to the issue I lose interest in the first few chapters. My bookshelves are full of books I will finish one day.

THIS BOOK IS A RARE EXCEPTION! Dr. G doesn’t mince words or wax eloquent to get to the issue at the heart of this book. From the very first word, you know the issue at hand (true discipleship) and what the book is really about (how to turn your Bible Studies into more than a fix all in the church world). The insights he reveals in this short book have the opportunity to bring a lasting impact into any church ministry setting. If you are going to read one book (besides the Bible) this year to help you gain a better understanding of Bible study’s part in disciple making, this is the book to read.

At only 5 chapters, it can be read in a single afternoon, but the concepts and suggestions he makes can be implemented daily and weekly in many aspects of individual and church ministry. A short read with powerful application. Truly another must read work by Dr. G.

Amazon Reader (Five Stars) – I knew the title was a hook to entice readers. I was enticed but with the caveat that I know Gerry and knew that he had an “antidote” to what he would present as a challenge or shortfall in our approach to building disciples. That was exactly what I found as I read his book in two days.

This ought to be one of those “required” texts for all in ministry and especially for church planters. Just remember if you read it you are responsible for new awareness that God may lodge in your mind. Reader beware…but grab it quickly. The sooner you do, the sooner it can be a part of reshaping your ministry as well as your mind.
