Happy end-of-Spring-Break-Saturday, friends!

Spring Break used to be ski trips or camping.

Then it was kids and grands coming to visit.

This year it was painting the living room and buying cemetery plots.

Yeah, we really know how to cut loose!

It was a year ago today that my sister called me early in the morning to tell me Mom wasn’t doing well.

My brother and sister both got on the road and I got on a plane, but she passed before any of us got there.

For Mrs Sweetie and me, she was the last of our parents to relocate to heaven.

It’s hard to believe it’s been a year.

From where I’m sitting right now, I can see 8 pieces of furniture that Mom gave us when we helped them move the last time.

I’m spending a few moments this morning in gratitude for her and especially for her godly influence.

My hymn text this morning reminded me to celebrate the holiness and praiseworthiness of the God I came to know under Mom’s loving care.

And my verse today from Psalm 80 (the thrice repeated refrain of this ancient song) is a reminder of my need to constantly be renewed—revived and restored—to unbroken fellowship with that same God.

Just like a new coat of paint is refreshing our living room this week, we all need a refreshing touch of God’s face shining on us so that we may more faithfully reflect His glory.

God knows what’s needed—a little touch up or a major renovation.

My prayer for all of us is that we would seek Him and allow Him to do His amazing work of conforming us in the image of Jesus.

Be amazing today, my friend.
