Happy Saturday, friends!

This Saturday morning I’m pondering Paul’s words to the church in Corinth:

“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. Do not cause anyone to stumble, whether Jews, Greeks or the church of God— even as I try to please everyone in every way. For I am not seeking my own good but the good of many, so that they may be saved” (1 Corinthians 10:31-33).

This has been a travel week.

I started the week in Houston attending the annual convention of Texans on Mission – TBM. Just over a month ago, I celebrated my one year anniversary as the Church Engagement Officer for the Texas panhandle for this incredible organization that brings help, hope, and healing to vulnerable people in times of crisis.

We heard great reports from our ministries all over the world and we were challenged with the scope of needs to which God is allowing us opportunities to respond.

For example, through June of 2024, our Disaster Relief team deployments have increased 125% over THE ENTIRE YEAR of 2023!

Amazing.

Another blessing of being part of this ministry is that what I didn’t hear at this meeting was every bit as refreshing as what I heard.

No partisan politics.

No outrage.

No fear-mongering or hand-wringing.

Just encouragement and challenge to help as many people as possible find help, hope, and healing in the name of Jesus and for the glory of God.

From Houston I traveled to Mabank (just southeast of Dallas) to spend a couple of days hanging out with my 89 year-old mom (and make sure she didn’t misbehave while my nephew and niece that live with her were out of town 🤣).

Mom’s the last one remaining of our parents, and every moment spent together is precious.

Her influence and her prayers have significantly contributed to my becoming the man I am, and she’s still devoting her life to doing everything for the glory of God.

I’m proud to be her son.

My prayer for today is that I will be constantly aware of the opportunities in every moment to live for God’s glory.

And as I was reminded this week, sometimes that is as simple as not getting sucked into everyone else’s drama.

Be amazing today, my friend.
