“All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people … for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen.” (Isaiah 65:2,12, New International Version)
How intentional are you about listening to God? About seeking His presence?
Isaiah 65 is about God’s judgment on people who deliberately choose to ignore Him and displease Him, but God spoke to my heart this morning, both through these verses, and through another devotional reading.
In the book, “Why pray?” John Devries posed this statement for reflection: “Describe the most memorable experience you have had with the presence of God.“
As I pondered that, I came to the conclusion that those experiences came when I was deliberately, intentionally seeking God’s presence.
Pairing that thought with these verses from Isaiah brought me to this conclusion: It was not my intentional seeking that brought God near; it was my seeking that enabled me to hear God’s calling and see His hands extended.
Question: What does intentional seeking look like for you?
