“So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness.” (Colossians 2:6-7, New International Version)

For almost two years now, Mrs Sweetie and I have been enjoying the Sweetie Suite we added on the back of our house. Watching it take shape from groundbreaking through move-in over the course of about 90 days was a great life lesson.

A concrete slab is necessary for a strong foundation. Then construction begins on the foundation, but the building materials do not just sit on the foundation; they have to be attached to the foundation. And they have to be attached together in a way that is consistent with sound construction principles. Precise measurements are necessary. Wiring and plumbing are hidden inside walls, floors, and ceilings, but they are essential (though unseen).

I could go on, but I think you get the point. We receive Christ as our foundation. We must be attached (rooted) and constructed (built up) in Him. We are continually strengthened as we live in Him and are taught by Him and all that overflows with thankfulness for a life that He is building in us.

Question: How is thankfulness overflowing in you today?

Leave a comment below.  I’d love to share in your thankfulness.
