Happy this-is-my-last-Saturday-pondering-of-2025 Saturday, friends!
I might ponder next Saturday, but I won’t post about it.
So, how do I land 2025 with a flourish, a bang, a ta-da?
Maybe that’s not the goal (actually there’s no “maybe” about it).
It’s just another Saturday in a lifetime of Saturdays. I’ve lived through approximately 3328 of them (based on my 64th birthday coming in 4 days—64 years x 52 weeks).
I just (I mean right now) looked up the average life expectancy for a male in the U.S. and now I’m pondering something else entirely! I’ll just say that I’m shooting for being well above average.
Since there’s no guarantee of how many Saturdays I have left to ponder (there’s no guarantee I’ll finish today), it seems I should just make the most of each one.
“Make the most” is a bit vague.
As it should be, because every Saturday is a unique, “once in a lifetime” day.
Even if I plan to do the exact same thing next Saturday (which I don’t), it won’t be the same because the world will have changed and I will have changed.
Today, “make the most” looks like making a batch of brownies and a batch of my Granny Lewis’s boiled cookies (in preparation for family Christmas gatherings in the next few days) and singing in two holiday pops concerts with the Amarillo Master Chorale and the Amarillo Symphony.
Next Saturday … I have no idea.
My prayer is that I would remember my calling to be amazed by God, join Him in His amazing activity in the world, and encourage you to do the same.
