My cousin, John Kennon sent me this photo on Saturday.
46-ish years and 115-ish pounds later, I think I could still fit in the socks. I’m pretty sure I was hoping to get this little honey extraction job finished so I could get to the tennis courts.
So often, Jay Harris (my bonus dad) made me work when I’d rather be doing something else. I sure miss him and would love to help him work on something now.
36-ish years ago, I wrote a song entitled “These Are the Good Days.”
The chorus says,
“These are the good daysWe can’t see it through the hazeSkipping daily treasures, looking for a future prizeThere’s so much to be found each day if we’ll just open up our eyesWhen the Lord is around, His love can be foundAnd He’ll help us realize that these are the good days”
On the last chorus, I changed “future prize” to “bygone prize” because our stage in life tends to change where we look for our prizes.
The point is that we so often miss what God’s doing while we’re in the messy middle.
And so we think things will be better when …
Or things would be better if we could go back to …
But God.
He’s at work all around us and He’s inviting us to join Him.
These are good days.
Be amazing today, my friend.
