“And you will be called something new, something brand new, a name given by none other than the Eternal One.” (Isaiah 62:2, The Voice Bible)
This verse has a specific context, but is also consistent with an eternal principle: when God calls you to Himself, He changes you and calls you something new.
Abram to Abraham … Sarai to Sarah … Simon to Peter … Jacob to Israel … all Biblical examples of name changes.
But, think also of the “names” people are given or even the names they give themselves: worthless … loser … broken … victim … unlovable … the list could go on and on.
God doesn’t see us that way, and He changes our names: sinner to saint … broken to restored … worthless to treasured … unlovable to loved …
And here is, in my opinion, the best one: He calls you His.
Question: What is the most significant new name has God given you?
