“But the natural, nonspiritual man does not accept or welcome or admit into his heart the gifts and teachings and revelations of the Spirit of God, for they are folly (meaningless nonsense) to him; and he is incapable of knowing them [of progressively recognizing, understanding, and becoming better acquainted with them] because they are spiritually discerned and estimated and appreciated.” (1 Corinthians 2:14, Amplified Bible)
When I started Dr. G’s Morning Cup of Encouragement as a Facebook group, I was very clear that there would be no whining and no politics (especially no political whining). In fact, my first thought was to call it the No Whiners group. But I decided to be more proactive in what I wanted to accomplish rather than simply what I wanted to avoid. Hence, the focus on intentional encouragement.
There are many problems in the world in general and in our country in particular, but we will not affect any transformation by complaining, nor will real change come through the political process.
Here is a hard truth, but if we don’t get our heads around it we will be continually frustrated and we will waste our energy and influence … Are you ready … Here it is: Why in the world do we expect people who are not Christ-followers to make decisions based on Biblical truth and to adopt Christ-centered behavior?
We are asking them to do things for which they are not equipped and then being mad at them for not doing it.
That means the problem is ours, not theirs. So what would it be like if we prayed twice as much as we complained and we became intentional about personally bringing the influence of Christ into our spheres of influence?
Question: What ways can you think of to bring the influence of Jesus into your spheres of influence?
